Habitat: In mixed boreal and deciduous forest - mostly coniferous.
Substrate: Growing mychorrhizally (near poplar/aspen)
Associated Species: Populus, conifer, quercus, pinus, etc. nearby
Description: ECOLOGY: Mycorrhizal with aspen/conifer nearby. Near edge of lake in damp area shortly off of trail. CAP: Bright orange with tints of brown. Convex. Smooth. 63mm width. Violet color when cut. STEM: Tan with black fibrils/scabbers. Very firm. 80 mm length 30 mm width. PORES 2-3 per mm. Olive buff. SPORE PRINT: deep yellow brown.
