Habitat: Occurring along rutted portion of the Arrowhead State Trail. Soil substrate is gravelly sandy clay with some siltiness and open pools. Partially shaded by <10 m tall Populus tremuloides and Betula papyrifera. Associates include Caltha natans, Gratiola neglecta, Bidens frondosa, B. cernua, Scirpus atrovirens, Persicaria sagittata, Chrysosplenium americanum, Echinochloa muricata, and Alisma triviale.
