Locality: United States, Minnesota, Koochiching, DNR designated old growth. Access from the south on UT-84 from MN-65. Specimen is 900 m northeast from the terminus of UT-84. Littlefork is the nearest town 31.5 km to the northwest.

Elevation: 385 meters (1263ft)
Habitat: Occurring in a mesic Pinus resinosa - Pinus strobus forest on well-drained sandy soil. Small clump growing through three inches of pine needle litter and humus and surrounded by Abies balsamea coarse woody debris. Charred snags indicate recent wildfire. Species associates include Rubus idaeus subsp. strigosus, Linnaea borealis, Maianthemum canadense, Coptis trifolia, and Lycopodium dendroideum.
