Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Access on Forest Road 203 east of County Road 180. Specimen is located 100 m southeast of FR-203. Cusson is the nearest town 11.7 km to the southwest.

Elevation: 433 meters (1420ft)
Habitat: Occurring on a steep upper slope of a bedrock high in an early-successional, Betula papyrifera-dominated forest. Partially shaded by Acer rubrum and B. papyrifera. Surface boulders abundant.
Substrate: Growing in well drained, extremely stony loam with minimal overlying humus.
Associated Species: Species associates include Eurybia macrophylla, Aralia nudicaulis, Orthilia secunda, Oryzopsis asperifolia, Abies balsamea, Rosa acicularis, Linnaea borealis, and Maianthemum canadense.
Description: 80 cm tall fruiting specimen.
