Habitat: Aspen, black spruce, white spruce, jack pine canopy on shallow soils over glacial till. No evidence of cut stumps. Deer browse pressure evident - occasional hedging on aspen or other shrubs. Several large boulders with Pleurozium schreberi dominating. Lots of downed woody debris - probably from shallow soils? Wind-blown? Open understory with little to no hazel cover.
Associated Species: Common Associates: Maianthemum canadense, Cornus canadensis, Eurybia macrophylla, and Acer rubrum.
