Habitat:
Pit and mound topography. West side of plot has more dense Corylus. Appears that the canopy is largely missing due to gaps. However, not much CWD. Many slugs! Even eating the plants. Many very old Acer saccharum and Acer rubrum growing together. No earthworms. Good duff layer. One large stump, very old; looks like cut and then burned. Mostly Acer saccharum regeneration; no saplings of anything really except balsam fir. Lots of moose browse - pellets are frequent.

Common Associates: Clintonia borealis, Maianthemum canadense, Acer saccharum, and Corylus cornuta subsp. cornuta.
