Habitat: Cut stumps, minimal coarse woody debris, dense shrub layer dominated by buckthorn with equal amounts of Prunus virginiana and Prunus serotina. Many elms in plot. About half dead. To the east the forest is more mesic and open with sugar maple canopy. some moss covered boulders with small crystals present. ~40 cm to bedrock.
Associated Species: Common Associates: Claytonia virginica, Osmorhiza claytonii, Rhamnus cathartica, and Sanicula gregaria.
