Habitat: Several trees growing in understory scattered along margins of wet forest that is adjacent to a small drainage to the lake. Growing under a Fraxinus nigra canopy with Populus balsamifera common.
Associated Species: Other associates include Osmunda cinnamomea, Laportea canadensis, Cystopteris bulbifera, Uvularia grandiflora, Osmorhiza claytonii in the groundlayer.
