Habitat: Growing along small, ephemeral creek that presently has no water. Canopy of Fraxinus nigra, Abies balsamea, and Populus tremuloides.
Substrate: Soil is loamy sand in upper strata.
Associated Species: Very rich understory of Caulophyllum thalictroides, Arisaema triphyllum, Actaea rubra, Asarum canadense, Maianthemum candense, Uvalaria grandiflora, Viola pubescens, and Ribes triste.
