Habitat: Occasional to frequent throughout mesic hardwood forest dominated by Tilia americana and Acer saccharum.
Associated Species: Occasional Quercus macrocarpa. Heavy Ostrya virginiana understory. Little else in shrub layer. Associates in groundlayer include Uvularia grandiflora, Thalictrum dioicum, Anemone quinquefolia, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Aralia nudicaulis.
