Occasional to rare along the margin of the Mississippi River (east side) in floodplain forest of Fraxinus nigra and Acer saccharinum, approx. one foot above the water line.
Associates include Scutellaria lateriflora, Phalaris arundinacea, Laportea canadensis, Carex lacustris.
