Habitat: Occasional in rich, mesic hardwood forest; resembles a floodplain terrace forest. Thin leaf litter, approx. 1cm thick; loamy soil. Canopy dominated by Tilia americana, Fraxinus nigra, and Acer negundo with occasional Ulmus americana and Acer saccharum.
Associated Species: Other associates include abundant Laportea canadensis with Equisetum hyemale, Acer spicatum, Ribes cynosbati, Maianthemum racemosum, Hydrophyllum virginianum.
