Common in spring fen. Minimal to no open pools, just continuous sedge dominated mat with small Picea mariana dominated islands throughout.
Growing with Rhynchospora fusca, Rhynchospora alba, Myrica gale, Betula pumila, Potentilla palustris, Sarracenia purpurea, Carex lasiocarpa, Vaccinium oxycoccos.
