Habitat: In heavy clay soil, and deep shade. In a mature mesic deciduous forest. Dominated by Acer saccharum and Tilia americana. Other sedges collected in this habitat include:, Carex hirtifolia, C. grisea, C. sparganioides, C. cephalophora.
