Habitat: Growing on the northwest side of Zumwalde Lake (ID 73008900), a 130 acre hypereutrophic basin situated in the Hardwood Hills Subsection. Part of the Sauk River Chain of Lakes, locally referred to as the Horseshoe Chain. Locally sparse in a sheltered bay. Submerged in 0.5 meters of water.
Substrate: Sand-silt substrate with a layer of detritus on top.
Associated Species: Associated with Potamogeton zosteriformis, Nymphaea odorata, Utricularia vulgaris, Ranunculus aquatilis, Ceratophyllum demersum, Spirodela polyrrhiza, Lemna trisulca.
