Common in west facing open mesic-dry bluff prairie with gentle slope at crest of hill. Collected not far from hiking trail. Very diverse flora and high quality prairie.
Associates include Valeriana edulis, Zigadenus elegans, Rosa acicularis, Amorpha canescens, Anemone patens, Campanula rotundifolia, Coreopsis palmata, Schizachyrium scoparium.
