Habitat:
Very common on southwest facing bluff prairie in process of being restored to more open habitat. Several rock outcrops. Significant amount of Rhamnus cathartica. Occasional Betula papyrifera, Quercus macrocarpa, Q. rubra, Pinus strobus. Areas that are very sandy are better quality, where this was collected.

Associates include Vaccinium angustifolium, Luzula multiflora, Pteridium aquilinum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Dichanthelium linearifolium, Lespedeza capitata, Symphyotrichum ericoides, Koeleria macrantha.
