Substrate: In individal clusters or groupings fruiting on a well decayed fallen stick;
Associated Species: Quercus, Fraxinus;
Description: ECOLOGY: Greenleaf and other nearby lakes form the very edge of the Big Woods, a vast remnant of deciduous forest that once covered 3,000 square miles of South Central Minnesota. Like a shield of water, the lakes protect the forest from wildfire from adjacent Minnesota River Prairie. This area was once a portal from the ancient woods into the Great Prairie. Elm, basswood, oak and ash present. HABITAT: Growing from a well decayed fallen stick (nearby ash and oak). HABIT: In individual clusters/groupings. FRUITING BODY: Off-white/light tan (due to age) glob of folds and wrinkles. Approx. 60 mm length.
