ECOLOGY: Greenleaf and other nearby lakes form the very edge of the Big Woods, a vast remnant of deciduous forest that once covered 3,000 square miles of South Central Minnesota. Like a shield of water, the lakes protect the forest from wildfire from adjacent Minnesota River Prairie. This area was once a portal from the ancient woods into the Great Prairie. Elm, basswood, oak and ash present. FRUITING BODY: 5 mm height, 1 mm width. Cylindrical. Orange/yellow. Smooth and firm (almost gelatinous looking when fresh). HABIT: Clusters Growing on bark-less fallen branch.
