Locality: United States, Minnesota, Washington, William O'Brien State Park, In state forest area on semi-used/finished trail that ran through aspen, oak and birch. Found about 15 ft off trail into more dense woods.

Elevation: 284 meters (932ft)
Habitat: Landscape: The variety of vegetation types, the St. Croix River floodplain, oak-hickory forests, scattered white pine areas, marshes, oak savanna, upland prairie and rolling meadows, provides habitat for diverse wildlife populations.
Substrate: Single specimen growing parasitically from Elaphomyces truffle that was approx 3-4 inches below ground.
Associated Species: In aspen stand with oak (red and burr oak present)
Description: ECOLOGY: Growing in aspen Grove (with bur oak present) in Oak Savannah area of the park. SUBSTRATE/HABIT: Growing singularly from a buried Elaphomyces (aka false truffle) species. FRUITING BODY: 60mm length, 3 mm width (5mm width at top). Orangish yellow slender smooth "stalk-like: body crowned with pimple-covered(with magnification) maroon/dusty red top. Yellow mycelium connecting to substrate.
