Occasional in area that was formerly a Pinus banksiana woodland; harvested in approximately 2009. Mostly growing in sun. This parcel did not receive any treatment post-harvest so has nice diversity of woodland and prairie species.
Soil is sand.
Associates include Galium boreale, Andropogon gerardii, Fragaria virginiana, Phlox pilosa, Asclepias ovata, Achillea millifolium, Vaccinium angustifolium, Zizia aurea, Symphyotrichum laeve, Salix humilis, Pinus banksiana seedlings.
