Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake of the Woods, Red Lake Wildlife Mgmt Area. 4.5 miles east of Moose River Rd; 8.5 miles east of Dick's Parkway Forest Rd.; 24.3 miles northeast of Grygla.

Habitat: Common in recently (Fall of 2012) burned Populus tremuloides-Abies balsamea forest. Fire was severe, killing all trees and consuming the ground layer. Understory now abundant with several fire-adapted and wind dispersed species. Abundant liverworts.
Substrate: Fire exposed mineral soil.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex adusta, Salis disolor, Rubus ideaus, Perscaria sagittata, Geranium bicknellii, Populus tremuloides and Populus balsamifera seedlings, Equisetum sylvaticum, Leucophysalis grandiflora.
