Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake of the Woods, Lake of the Woods State Forest. 0.90 miles east of MN Truck Highway 72; 0.5 miles south of LOW Twp Rd. 150; 20 miles north of Waskish.

Habitat: Canopy open with lots of aspen tip-ups in drier jack-pine woodland. Several large dead jack pine. Adjacent to wetter aspen forest to the north and jack pine rock outcrop to the south within a larger wetland complex.
Substrate: Loamy soil with lots of boulders.
Notes: Associates include Populus tremuloides and Pinus banksiana canopy with occasional Betula papyrifera and Picea glauca. Ground associates include Viburnum rafinesquianum, Diervilla lonicera, Vaccinium myrtilloides, Carex pedunculata, Cornus canadensis, Lycopodium clavatum, Maianthemum canadense.
