Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake of the Woods, Beltrami Island State Forest. 10 miles southeast of Norris Camp, Wildlife Mgmt Headquarters. Very remote.

Habitat: Occasional in wet aspen island within larger peatland complex. Dense understory and shrub layer. Open canopy of Populus tremuloides with occasional Picea mariana and Betula papyrifera.
Substrate: Top 6 inches is saturated muck.
Notes: Additional associates include Cornus sericea, Equisetum sylvaticum, Symphyotrichum ciliolatum, Rubus pubescens, Ribes triste, Vaccinium myrtilloides, Rhododendron groenlandicum, Clintonia borealis, Mitella nuda.
