Locality: United States, Minnesota, Beltrami, Wolf Trail Wildlife Mgmt Area. 0.35 miles north of Beltrami Co Road 710; 8.4 miles southeast of Grygla.

Habitat: Shrubby open, prairie rich peatland. Areas of bare soil; various mosses are patchy. Scattered tall (20-40 ft) aspen nearby. Patches of Phragmites nearby, but not dominating.
Substrate: Moist mineral soil underlying shallow peat.
Notes: Associates include Salix discolor, Dasiphora fruticosa, Populus tremuloides (seedlings), Carex lasiocarpa, Calamagrostis stricta, Carex stricta, Carex leptalea, Solidago uliginosa, Lobelia kalmii, Symphyotrichum boreale, Fragaria virginiana.
