Habitat: Common in rich fen that is burned frequently.
Substrate: Firm sedge peat.
Notes: Associates include abundant Calamagrostis stricta and Carex buxbaumii. Other common species are Muhlenbergia glomerata, Carex limosa, Lycopus uniflorus, Rubus arcticus, Lobelia kalmii, Helianthus giganteus.
