Habitat: Uncommon in dense shade in narrow strip of hardwoods on south shore of Lake of the Woods. Abundant down woody debris. Very little leaf litter.

Associated Taxa: Canopy dominated by Acer negundo, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Populus tremuloides. Ground layer associates include Carex deweyana, Festuca subverticillata, Carex sprengelii, Parthenocissus vitacea, Aquilegia canadensis, Botrychium matricariifolium.
