Locality: United States, Minnesota, Beltrami, Red Lake Nation. 0.50 miles southwest of Red Lake Reservation Rd. 18; approx 100 meters from the shore of lower Red Lake; 3.5 miles northwest of Ponemah.

Habitat: Common near bottom (east side) of steep slope near shore of upper Red Lake. This east facing slope and forest are protected from the prevailing weather where Celtis occidentalis and other rich mesic forbs dominate.
Notes: Other associates include Tilia americana, Elymus canadensis, Hydrophyllum virginiana, Sanguinaria canadensis, Maianthemum racemosa, Laportea canadensis, Trillium cernuum, Matteuccia struthiopteris, Maianthemum stellatum, Dicentra cucullaria.
