Locality: United States, Minnesota, Beltrami, Red Lake State Forest. 0.53 miles east of MN Trunk Hwy 72; 3 miles south-southeast of Waskish.

Habitat: Old growth Pinus resinosa forest, approx. 105 years old or more. Very patchy understory with areas of Corylus cornuta common. Cut stumps common. Picea glauca and Pinus strobus also common in understory.
Substrate: Soils are sand.
Notes: Additional associates include Rosa acicularis, Anemone quinquefolia, Comandra umbellata, Diervilla lonicera, Pteridium aquilinum, Maianthemum canadense, Aralia nudicaulis, Melampyrum lineare, Diphasiastrum complanatum, Linnaea borealis.
