Common along the margins of featureless water track that are less saturated, adjacent to Picea mariana raised bog.
Associates include Menyanthes trifoliata, Scheuchzeria palustris, Carex limosa, stunted Larix laricina, Betula pumila, Carex oligosperma, Eriophorum gracile, Vaccinium oxycoccos, Andromeda polifolia.
