Habitat: Farm fields (soybeans and corn) with associated weeds of low areas
Associated Species: Capsella bursa-pastoris, Thlaspi arvense, Veronica peregrina, Ranunculus sceleratus, Acer saccharinum, Acer negundo, Viburnum lentago, Salix exigua
Description: Slender treelet 9 m. tall, 8 cm. in diameter, 12 years old, the collected wood specimen about as large as any in this population. Large, nearly monospecific stand of this species, the stems not evenly spaced, but seem to be in clumps of up to 6 stems per clump, perhaps originally a typical clone, but may have been cut off in the past and the individual stems resprouted into small clumps. Pistillate; fruit green.
