Description:
Shrub 1.5 m. tall, with a dozen stems of various sizes in a tight clump, much-branched above, the younger stems very bristly and spiny, 3-year-old stems still with some bristles and spines; 4- to 5-year-old stems 1.3 cm. in diameter, the bristles and spines all now shed and bark beginning to shred and peel; bark shallowly and longitudinally furrowed, with pale ridges, and the darker area between dark and with lenticels. Fruit very immature, green.
