Marshy area with shrubs and a few trees
Pinus strobus, Pinus banksiana, Spiraea alba, Spiraea tomentosa, Ilex mucronata, Betula pumila, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Gaylussacia baccata, Carex oligosperma, Carex aquatilis, Carex buxbaumii, Sphagnum.
Shrubs, to 2.5 m. tall, 2.8 cm. in diameter, the growth rings difficult to count but may be ca. 20 years old, in loose clump of dozens of stems. Fruit inconspicuous, green, with reddish tinge on one side.
