United States, Minnesota, Lake, Rugged bedrock terrain north of the Fernberg Road, south of Moose Lake, 17 miles east-northeast of Ely. Local along the Secret - Blackstone hiking trail.

Habitat:
Uncommon and very local on the large, dry, south-facing, diabase cliff that rises 80-100 feet above the west end of Ennis Lake. Scattered clumps in two loose patches, rooted along crevices in full sun to partial shade both near base and near top of cliff. Calcite veins are occasional in the weakly alkaline rock. This cliff is popular with rock climbing; cliff flora mostly absent in areas frequented by climbers.
Associated Species:
Associates include Cystopteris fragilis, and species of crustose and foliose lichens including Xanthoria sp.
