Locally common near the lakeshore. Loose to fairly dense patches in shallow water in a small sheltered cove, and along the shore in similar settings in the bay to the southwest. Fine sand substrate, often with a cap of fairly firm silty organic muck. Full sun.
Associates include Equisetum fluviatile, Juncus pelocarpus, Eriocaulon aquaticum, Utricularia resupinata, Littorella uniflora, Myriophyllum tenellum, Carex utriculata.
