Habitat:
Locally common on the margin of an old beaver meadow in a basin. Loose patches in narrow ecotonal (semi-terrestrial) zone between Alnus incana on the upland margin and the wetter Calamagrostis canadensis - Carex lacustris meadow. Wet-mesic, silty-organic substrate. Full sun to partial shade of Alnus incana.
Associated Species:
Associates include Carex stricta, Calamagrostis canadensis, Eupatorium maculatum, Botrychium multifidum, Ophioglossum pusillum, Rubus strigosus, Spiraea alba.
