Habitat: Uncommon in rich shrub fen along the lower reaches of Madden Creek. Deep, saturated, slightly quaky fibric peat. Mostly in full sun. Multi-stemmed shrubs, to ~4 feet tall.
Associated Species: Associates include Salix pyrifolia, S. planifolia, S. petiolaris, S. discolor, S. bebbiana, Spiraea alba, Cornus stolonifera, Ribes hirtellum, Alnus incana, Myrica gale, Carex stricta, C. lacustris, Calamagrostis canadensis, Campanula aparinoides, Utricularia intermedia, Triadenum fraseri, Potentilla palustris, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Rubus pubescens, Lycopus uniflorus, Thelypteris palustris.
