Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; On the banks of the Little Indian Sioux River north of the Echo Trail, 23 miles northwest of Ely. ~1/2-mile upstream from the mouth of Range Line Creek and just upstream from the portage trail landing.

Habitat: Occasional, forming loose patches on the river bank just below a long series of cascades. Partial shade; patchy canopy of Fraxinus pennsylvanica. Rocky silty substrate.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Glyceria striata, Carex crinita, Ilex verticillata, Viburnum lentago, Acer saccharinum, Rubus strigosus, Ulmus americana, Osmunda regalis, Eupatorium maculatum.
