Habitat:
Occasional to frequent in a shallow basin. In wet meadow and rich fen in the small basin which supports a tiny pond at its center. Mostly in full sun. Moist silty-organic substrate. Some plants in Sphagnum moss carpets.

Associates include Agrostis scabra, Scirpus cyperinus, Carex lasiocarpa, Equisetum sylvaticum, Onoclea sensibilis, Dryopteris cristata, D. carthusiana, Potentilla palustris, Persicaria amphibia, Eupatorium maculatum, Salix discolor, Alnus incana, Chamaedaphne calyculata.
