Habitat:
Occasional in a shallow basin. In wet meadow and rich fen in the small basin which supports a tiny pond at its center. Full sun, to full shade beneath a dense patch of Alnus incana. In moist substrates varying from silty-organics to peat.

Additional associates include Carex lasiocarpa, Scirpus cyperinus, Agrostis scabra, Onoclea sensibilis, Equisetum sylvaticum, Potentilla palustris, Dryopteris carthusiana, Triadenum fraseri, Persicaria amphibia, Salix discolor, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Rubus strigosus.
