Locality:
United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Along the Horse River in fairly rugged bedrock terrain 14 miles north-northeast of Ely. Locally common along ~1/2-mile stretch of river between portages downstream from Horse Lake, and sporadic for another ~2+ miles to the confluence with the Basswood River.

Habitat:
Forming dense patches in areas of slack water at depths of 18-60+ inches (water levels much reduced by drought). Silty-organic substrate. Leaves and inflorescences emergent. Purple flowers still present on a few plants.
