Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Along the upper reaches of the Jackfish River in fairly rugged bedrock terrain 18 miles north-northeast of Ely. Local on the river bank at the landing of the portage from Wabosons Lake.

Verbatim Elevation: 1295 feet
Habitat: Loose patch of several large clumps in thin soil over a southwest-facing granitic outcrop. Dry to rather moist settings ~18-30 inches above river level. Full sun to partial shade of Pinus resinosa, P. strobus, and P. banksiana.
Associated Species: Associates include Dichanthelium acuminatum, Agrostis scabra, Danthonia spicata, Vaccinium angustifolium, Viola pallens, Persicaria sagittata, Lysimachia terrestris, Hypericum majus.
