Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Rugged bedrock terrain along the Jackfish River southeast of Thursday Bay, Crooked Lake, 18 miles north-northeast of Ely.

Elevation: 424 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1390 feet

Habitat: Frequent in conifer woodland on the upper portion of a sloping bedrock ridge. Patchy canopy dominated by Pinus banksiana and Picea mariana, with occasional Populus grandidentata, P. tremuloides, and Betula papyrifera. Partial sun to full shade. Shallow silty soil over granite. Loose patches in thick carpets of Pleurozium schreberi and Dicranum mosses.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Goodyera tesselata, Cypripedium acaule, Platanthera hookeri, Melampyrum lineare, Dendrolycopodium hickeyi, Aster macrophyllus, Vaccinium angustifolium.
