Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Fairly rugged bedrock terrain northwest of Jackfish Lake, 18 miles north-northeast of Ely, west of the Jackfish River, north of Sauna Lake.

Elevation: 439 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1440 feet

Habitat: Fairly local and rather sporadic in upland black spruce - feathermoss woodland on gently rolling ridge. Patchy to interrupted canopy dominated by mature Picea mariana, with scattered old Pinus banksiana. Patchy understory of Picea mariana and Abies balsamea. Ground layer dominated by carpets of Pleurozium schreberi, with frequent Dicranum mosses and Cladina lichens. Infestation patches are small.

Associated Taxa: Growing exclusively on Picea mariana; mostly on small trees or the lower branches of large trees.
