Uncommon and very local. Small infestation occurs on Picea mariana on the margin of a poor fen, and in the adjacent bedrock (granitic) woodland on a very steep northwest-facing slope above the wetland. A few dozen infected trees here, all are Picea mariana.
Additional associates include Carex trisperma, C. lacustris, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Gaultheria hispidula, Kalmia polifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, V. angustifolium, Ledum groenlandicum, Alnus viridis, Lycopodium annotinum.
