Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Fairly rugged bedrock terrain northeast of Jackfish Lake, 18 miles north-northeast of Ely, along the bedrock-entrenched drainage between Sash and Circle Lakes.

Habitat: Occasional in alder swamp on margin of a small peatland. Continuous Sphagnum carpets. Typically rooted on hummocks. Saturated peat. Partial shade beneath tall Alnus incana, and scattered, ~stunted Picea mariana.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Ledum groenlandicum, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Viola pallens, Calla palustris, Potentilla palustris, Triadenum fraseri, Lycopus uniflorus, Carex lacustris.
