Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Strongly rolling bedrock terrain northeast of Jackfish Lake, 18 miles north-northeast of Ely, on the granitic ridge between Circle and Wabosons Lakes.

Elevation: 411 meters
Verbatim Elevation: 1350 feet
Habitat: Frequent to locally abundant in mesic forest. Patchy canopy of Betula papyrifera, Picea mariana, Populus tremuloides, and occasional Acer rubrum. Understory of Abies balsamea, Corlyus cornuta, and occasional Quercus rubra locally. Fine silty sand with fairly thick humus layer. Loose to dense patches.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Spinulum annotinum, Diphasiastrum complanatum, Clintonia borealis, Cornus canadensis, Aster macrophyllus, Trientalis borealis, Vaccinium angustifolium.
