Habitat:
Occasional in prairie / oak savanna on a large granite outcrop complex rising ~30 feet above the surrounding forested landscape. Shallow loamy soil over bedrock. Level to gently sloping, dry-mesic setting. Full sun to partial shade of small Quercus macrocarpa and Q. ellipsoidalis.
