Habitat: Common in shallow pools (flarks) and along wildlife trails in a large water track in a patterned rich fen complex. Also on slightly higher areas (strings). Deep, quaking, saturated sedge peat. Mostly in full sun (to partial shade of stunted Thuja occidentalis, Larix laricina, Picea mariana). Grows singly or in loose patches.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex livida, C. lasiocarpa, C. buxbaumii, Trichophorum cespitosum, T. alpinum, Menyanthes trifoliata, Sarracenia purpurea, Utricularia intermedia, U. minor, Equisetum fluviatile, Betula glandulifera, Potentilla fruticosa.
