Habitat: Local, infrequent along a large water track in a patterned rich fen complex. Deep, quaking, saturated peat. Full sun to partial shade of stunted Thuja occidentalis and Larix laricina. Growing singly or in loose patches of many dozen plants.
Associated Species: Associates include Trichophorum alpinum, T. cespitosum, Eriophorum viridi-carinatum, Carex lasiocarpa, C. livida, Equisetum fluviatile, Parnassia glauca, Potentilla fruticosa, Betula glandulifera, Andromeda glaucophylla.
